Eddie has been a dedicated team member since 2006. He started in engine disassembly and quickly moved to order pulling, then to our shipping and receiving department early in his career with the company. He transitioned into his current role as purchasing manager in December 2019.
He is responsible for working with our sales team to find the parts we need. He is tasked with building relationships with new and existing vendors. His experience in shipping and receiving helps him understand the parts our customers need, the value of those parts, and the logistics it takes to get them to our facility.
Derek McWhorter (President) says, “Eddie’s dedication to our company throughout the years has helped us grow in many ways. Eddie understands most aspects of the business and he keeps our team, our vendors, and our customers interest in the forefront each day. It’s been a pleasure getting to know Eddie through the years, I look forward to working with him for many more years to come.”
Here are some questions that we asked Eddie:
What do you like most about your current role with River City Truck Parts?
I am always learning new things. I like the challenge of staying on top of the current market prices for parts and engine cores. I like being able to use my experience and knowledge of parts to negotiate deals. I also like building long-lasting relationships with our vendors.
What do you like about the River City Truck Parts leadership?
They are very supportive, and they listen to my input and ideas. They encourage me to learn and grow. They trust me and that inspires me to work hard and get better every day.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
Sometimes people try to sell me their parts for more than they are worth, so I have to quickly determine the good deals versus the bad ones. I must be able to negotiate a realistic price or in some cases just say,“no deal”. Therefore, I must keep in mind the price we are willing to pay for each part and then negotiate based on volume.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I like to play soccer and watch soccer, particularly the Lou City team. I also like to spend time with my family.
Are you originally from the Louisville, Kentucky area?
No, I am originally from Mexico but lived in Texas for about 18 years. I now call Louisville my home and have lived in the area for about 20 years.
